I was going to ask if it was oak.. but then I see the picture is literally labeled "Ash Bowl" hah, so I'll skip that.

With that pronounced grain structure a bit of liming to pop the grain might be kind of fun (speaking of finishing...)

Dyed Ash is my favorite wood to use liming wax on.
