9" Pecan Bowl

Finished this up late this morning. The walls are a bit thicker than I usually do as the heartwood was a bit brittle on the edges, so had to be careful. Wood has some bug holes but for some that just adds character. The diameter is 9" and height 3 1/4", depth 2 1/2" and volume 6 cups. Wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and finished with shellac with a bit of walnut oil based wax mixed in.

Pecan with character makes for a lovely bowl.

Nicely done, Dave. With all those holes it might not work for soup, but it could make a dandy colander.

Vaughn, I failed to mention that one of my tests is fill it with water for at least an hour sitting on my cutting board covered with brown paper to see if it leaks or not. This bowl did not leak. So, soup it is!! Or, stew. Or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Which are well known to be the leakiest of the peanut butter cups as there is no other possible explanation of why the bowl containing them is always empty when I go to look at it...

Nice bowl BTW . You found some nice character in that log and did a killer job of bringing it out.
